Vessel Safety Checks |
|
Our vessel exams, now called Vessel Safety Checks, are a free service provided to boaters. During the vessel safety check, which generally takes only a few minutes, our Vessel Examiners will check a number of items to ensure that the vessel and its equipment are in compliance with Federal regulations. The vessel safety check includes items such as: · Numbering, · Registration/Documentation, · Personal Flotation Devices, · Visual Distress Signals, · Fire Extinguishers, · Ventilation, · Backfire Flame Arrester, · Sound Producing Devices, · Navigation Lights, and · Overall Boat Condition
The results of the examination are not reported to any law enforcement agency, nor do any penalties result from failure to pass the exam. Upon successful completion of the vessel exam, the vessel is awarded a sticker similar to the one depicted above. Check with your boat insurance agent to discuss any benefits which may result from successfully passing our Vessel Safety Check. |
