America's Boating Course, offered most often by the Central Las Vegas flotilla, is an eight hour introduction to safe boating. The course is offered either as a single day program, usually on a Saturday, or as a three evening program, usually on week nights.

The course covers a variety of topics, including:

  • An Introduction to Boating,
  • Boating Laws,
  • Personal Safety Equipment,
  • Safe Boat Handling,
  • Navigation,
  • Boating Problems,
  • Trailering, Storing and Protecting Your Boat, and
  • Water-skiing and River Boating

The course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, and meets the requirements for boating education under the Nevada Revised Statutes. It is also recognized by the US Coast Guard as acceptable to the National Recreational Boating Safety Program.

Check with your boat insurance agent for any benefits which may result from boating education. For details on how to sign up for America's Boating Course and the location of the next class contact our Public Education Officer, Mike Gerena, at mjgerena@cox.net.
